Colortech Follows a 5 Step Process When Painting the Exterior of Your Home
1. Power Washing Surfaces need to be cleaned. You must have this done before painting. All homes have a layer of surface dirt, dust and mildew that can only be removed by a 2,000 to 3,000 PSI Power Washer.
2. Scraping & Repairs All loose paint must be removed. This is done by hand scraping knives and wire brushes to a tight primeable condition. If you need any repairs prior to painting, we have trained personal to handle most minor repairs.
3. Priming After the power washing and scraping ,all exposed wood is primed with an oil-based primer. We also prime the metal lintels above windows and doors with a Red Oxide Primer to prevent rust. Priming provides a sound foundation for a finish coat of paint. 4. Caulking and Puttying We caulk around all windows and entry ways with a 50- year caulk. Caulking helps reduce air flow and water leaks. All major wood joints are caulked and putty applied in nail holes.
5. Painting After power washing, scraping, priming and caulking, we use only premium paints from Sherwin Williams, Kelly Moore and Benjamin Moore.
